Safeway Wichita Employees Federal Credit Union was chartered in 1951 to serve the employees and families of Safeway Grocery Stores in the Wichita and surrounding communities. In 1987, Safeway sold and the credit union changed its name to First Choice Federal Credit Union and expanded their membership to include multiple employee groups in the Wichita area.
The Credit Union continued to grow and prosper, and, in 1997, another name change was made to allow for the expansion of membership to a three-county area. First Choice Credit Union is now open to anyone living in, working in or worshiping in Sedgwick, Harvey, or Butler counties. Thanks to our members and their loyal support, the Credit Union has thrived on a foundation of trust and stability, continually providing new services while maintaining strong financial reserves to assure success in the future. In 2011, FCCU officially merged with the second largest credit union in Kansas under one name, Credit Union of America.
A member-owned organization dedicated to improving members’ financial well-being.
